The Society of Haemophilia and Allied Disorders with support from NNHF, Haemophilia Scotland and the Ministry of Health opened its first treatment centre at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe on 11th November 2016. The guest of honour was the Minister of Health, Hon. Peter Kumpalume, MP. Over 200 people showed up for screening and out of these, 40 were found with haemophilia. Previously in Malawi, there was only 6 known patients of haemophilia.
The Society of Haemophilia and Allied Disorders with support from Novo Nordisk Haemophilia Foundation, Haemophilia Scotland and the Ministry of Health is pleased to announce the opening of its first Haemophilia Clinic in Malawi.
In Malawi, people with haemophilia do not know that they have the disease because there are no laboratory facilities to diagnose the disease. But such a laboratory unit will be opened on 11th November, 2016 at Kamuzu Central Hospital. Please provide your name or that of your child by sms to 0994969108 or 0881405108 if you suspect that you have haemophilia or if you know anyone who may have haemophilia so that they can be invited to Lilongwe for laboratory testing on 11th November 2016.
